THE COMPANY

SOLE PROPRIETORSHIP

The sole proprietorship belongs to one natural person, without a separate legal personality. The owner bears full personal liability for debts and it is suitable for small businesses, professionals, and freelancers.

Characteristics:

  • Establishment: Business start declaration at AADE, GEMI registration if required, no minimum capital.
  • Tax regime:
    • Progressive income tax depending on net profits:
      • 9% for the first €10,000
      • 22% for €10,001 – €20,000
      • 28% for €20,001 – €30,000
      • 36% for €30,001 – €40,000
      • 44% for amounts above €40,000
    • New businesses are exempt from tax prepayment for the first 3 years.
    • Single-entry or double-entry books, VAT submission where required.
  • Legal status: Natural person, full personal liability.
  • EFKA insurance: Mandatory for owner/manager.
  • Special licenses: Required where specified by the profession.
